Applications

How does the voltage converter heat dissipate?
- Heat Sinks
Heat sinks are metallic components (usually made of aluminum or copper) that help dissipate heat from the converter’s surface into the surrounding air. They increase the surface area for heat transfer, promoting more efficient cooling. - Thermal Pads and Thermal Paste
Thermal pads or thermal paste can be applied to the components to improve the heat transfer between the converter and its heat sink or mounting surface. - Forced Air Cooling (Fans)
In high-power converters, especially those used in industrial or automotive applications, fans may be used to blow air over the converter and its heat sink to increase the rate of heat dissipation. - Convection Cooling
Convection cooling relies on the natural movement of air to carry heat away from the converter. This is often used in smaller converters or in systems with lower power requirements where heat generation is minimal.
